We expect some really great news about the new 2017 Toyota Prius. According to some sources the new Prius could provide 30 to 35 miles in electric range.
Exterior and interior design and changes
The new 2017 Toyota Prius will be available as a normal 2017 Toyota Prius and as a 2017 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid. Both of these two models will get some interesting exterior and interior changes. This new generation Prius will be longer and wider than its predecessor, while the height will remain the same as before. More precisely it will measure 4550 x 1770 x 1490 mm. Its wheelbase will be 2,700 mm long. When we are talking about the exterior of the new Prius, we are expecting to see some new lines and shapes. All over the front bumper, hood and front fenders we will see new sculped lines. New Prius will get new scratched-resistant fender flares and bumpers. It will also feature a proper front grille, horizontal bars of LED DRLs, and a pair of new Acura’s Jewel Eye inspired headlamps. It is interesting that the normal and the Plug-In Hybrid Prius will have different front fascia design and PHEV badges on the sides.
2017 Toyota Prius powertrain
First generation of the famous Toyota Prius plug-in was launched back in 2013. Its low electric range of around 11 miles was the biggest problem. So, Toyota would like to increase this electric-driving range to at least 20 miles, or even 30 if possible. Latest news says that the car’s range could be even as high as 35 miles. This way the new Prius could travel farther than any other plug-in hybrid except the 2016 Chevrolet Volt which is capable to travel 50 miles in electric mode. Total system output is rated between 145 and 150 horsepower.
Release date and price
How we have found out, first cars will be delivered by mid-2016. Its price will be between $25,000 and $30,000.
